Assessment
At the Foot & Leg Centre, your first step towards improving foot and leg pain is that of completing a thorough assessment with one of our practitioners. We want to know what it is you have done; what pain you are experiencing; and, what other treatments you have tried that have not worked for you. In order to successfully treat the cause of your pain, we must fully understand your condition and its contributing factors.
The very first step in any type of effective therapy program is getting to know you and your condition. In order to do this our first meeting assessment includes:
• Finding out what you are having problem with.
• Any personal history that is connected to your problem.
• Any medical history that is relevant to your problem.
• Other types of therapy or treatment that you have previously undertaken.
• A postural evaluation.
• A ROM – Range of Motion – evaluation on your joints.
• Hand-on testing.
Your First Consultation:
Your initialconsultation is always very important, ensuring we find out your background information and gain a full understanding of you and your problem. For this reason, our Centres are welcoming and friendly. They are a place where patients can relax, providing support to their therapy.
Here we’ll ask you some questions. These relate to the actual foot or leg problem you are experiencing and then find out if there is any personal or medical history that relates to the problem. Once this is completed, one of our senior practitioners will undertake an examination.
This first meeting also provides clients with an opportunity to ask any questions relating to the treatment. We will also take you through the various steps that you will most likely go through when completing your treatment with the Centre. If an x-ray is required, this will also be undertaken.
Upon the next meeting, we will provide you with a report and then move forward with treatment. The first treatment will also be reviewed to ascertain how your body reacts to the treatment and then work out the best route to take.
